My client requires an IT professional with flair who is a good communicator and able to manage the development of a progressive IT Department. The Computer Services Team manages and supports all IT facilities within this education establishment. These are in use from 8.30 am until 7.30 pm. Occasional weekend work may be required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing all aspects of IT use for its staff and students. Whilst experience in an education environment would be an advantage, a passion to effectively innovate and deliver better IT systems for the benefit of users is key to this position, as is the user development of our Moodle VLE and the website.

For the right candidate, there will be a good opportunity to develop further, both personally and professionally.

Candidates should have technical experience of: Windows Server 2008; Active Directory; Exchange Server 2007; VMWare VSphere; Linux; Windows XP/7; Office 2007/10; Apple OSX; Networking TCP/IP and Firewalls (3com/CISCO); print management and wireless technology.

Candidates should also have experience with telecoms systems and mobile phones/devices including BlackBerrys.

Management experience should include excellent Project, budget and department management as well as strategic planning, backup and disaster recovery management and policy documentation creation.

Experience in the Education sector is beneficial.

Remote duties form part of this role therefore a full driving licence is essential
