1. Purpose of the Job
In accordance with Process and Site requirements, raise Purchase Orders for Raw Materials, Components, Consumables and Services. Manage the backward supply chain to ensure requirements are met in an efficient and Cost Effective manner.

2. Operating Environment / Job Dimensions
Location: Internal Office based role working with all Pre-Production Departments.
Occasional Supplier site visits

Overhead: Authority to place orders with a value up to £1,000

3. Key Areas of Performance
a) Raise Purchase Orders for Raw Materials, Commodities or Contracted Components, Consumable items and Services in line with Process requirements and Strategic Stock Holding Levels.
b) Manage the backward supply chain, using such tools at Critical Path Analysis to ensure Suppliers are fully aware of, and are meeting requirements. Ensure any potential problems in terms of continuity of supply are highlighted at the earliest possible stage.
c) Support the Strategic Buyer in the collection and analysis of data to ensure effective and appropriate purchasing strategies are understood and maintained.
d) To negotiate with Suppliers as required, to ensure best possible Terms and Conditions are achieved.
e) To work with the Manufacturing and Technical Teams to ensure Raw Materials are sourced in the most cost effective and efficient format for the Process.
f) Liaise with the Chemists and Lab Technicians to ensure that selected Raw Materials are obtained at the best price and deliveries and quantities are compatible with the needs of the business.
g) To ensure that the flow of Purchased Items is compatible with Process requirements and that Stock holding and Cash Flow is not compromised.
h) To ensure that at all times, costed and committed prices are adhered to.
i) Complete Vendor Rating Scorecard on a monthly basis
j) To ensure that all operations are performed in accordance with company Health and Safety guidelines and HASAWA 1974, ensuring that equipment is operated safely, with consideration for the Job holder’s own safety and the safety of fellow workers in the area.
k) To maintain the highest possible standards of housekeeping and G.M.P. within the Purchasing department.
l) To promote good working relationships within the Purchasing Team and to develop and maintain a continuous Improvement environment involving all Team Members. Work with departmental Managers to identify improvements to existing equipment and processes.
